Rochelle Jordan Live at Säälchen (Berlin) 12.02.26

It felt like a dream to be able to watch one of the artists I have been listening to the past almost 4 years live in-person. She was one of the first artists I got into after quite a nasty breakup back in 2023… I really got into her song Already from her 2021 EP, Play with the Changes. It later became my #1 streamed song of 2023.

I must admit, I wasn’t following her that much really apart from the non-stop listening of the EP. It wasn’t until I saw a blurb on Instagram referring to something about an upcoming album. Something felt somewhat familiar because of how much I listened to her EP and then when her album, Through the Wall, came out in the later end of 2025, I officially became obsessed. After I saw that she had been promoting her upcoming tour in North America on TikTok, I began commenting on every new video, “Please come to Germany 💜💜💜”. Weeks went by and I was so excited to see that one day, she finally announced the European leg of her "Through the Wall" Tour of 2026. (I like to think that I was personally responsible for Rochelle coming back to Berlin..)

I obviously immediately bought my ticket and asked one of my best-friends who happens to live in Berlin, if he could host me. The day of her concert finally arrived and I had previously arranged to have the early shift at my job so I could catch the 2 o’clock train from Munich to Berlin. Originally, my friend was hesitant to come. He knew, however how important this was was to me and was able to luckily snatch a ticket last minute on eBay.

In preparation for the show, we went to to a local drugstore to print out some pictures in the opportune event that I would be able to get an autograph of one of my most beloved artists. Since the album’s visuals can be interpreted as late 80s/early 90s inspired, we thought it’d best to peruse a second-hand store before the concert in the hopes of coming across a couple of vintage pieces we could wear to the concert. As soon as we walked into one store in particular, I immediately heard Sweet Sensation playing on the speakers. Of course, being the curious person I am, I had to investigate. I asked one of the employees and sure enough, one of the sales associates knew exactly who Rochelle Jordan is and funnily enough would be later attending the same concert after his shift. We exchanged Instagrams and went on our way.

Next thing I know, we arrive to the concert hall. I was so nervous but excited at the same time—I immediately went to the bar and ordered a white wine to calm my nerves. Upon learning that Essosa would be opening the show, I became even more intrigued. I knew a couple of songs of hers, namely, Waste of Time, and Golden Touch, which she also performed. After Essosa rocked her set, it was then Rochelle’s time to shine.

As soon as appeared on stage, I was immediately enraptured by her— her voice, her energy, her audience engagement. She performed about 17 of her songs and somehow it still wasn’t enough. We found ourselves in the front row and it all felt so surreal. This was the woman that soothed me through a breakup, who was there when I the world around me was so grey, and who also accompanied me when I was dancing in my room, alone at 3am—and now we’re standing in the same place at the same time.

What’s even more unfathomable to me is that I was able to have such a lovely conversation with Miss Jordan at the end of her show. I was the first person to secure my spot in the makeshift meet-and-greet line, and as soon at it was my time, I was surprised how easily I was able to pour out my love and support to this woman that I’d been following for the last couple of years. There’s this common idea of meeting your idols and not being able to spit out anything of a coherent sentence, but this time I really locked in. I mentioned to her how I loved the sound of her third studio album. Her references to old-school music. We laughed and kikied and she signed my printed out photo. I think about this day often and can only smile and appreciate the kind, intelligent, and lovely lady that is the artist Rochelle Jordan.
